THE DEPARTMENT’S SENSITIVE NATURAL AREAS (ENS): A NETWORK TO DISCOVER
Remarkable sites recognized for their ecological, geological or landscape qualities, the ENS have a genuine collective and heritage interest.
More than thirty ENS are scattered across the Drôme region. Nine of them are owned by the Département, representing almost 6,000 hectares spread across the Vercors, Diois and Valence plains:
- the Saoû forest, a perched syncline
- the Ambel plateau, 1231 hectares of exceptional flora and fauna
- the Font d’Urle mountain pasture, a fascinating karstic site
- the Jardin du Roy mountain pasture, a mountain environment overlooking the Archiane cirque
- Glandasse mountain, encircled by imposing limestone cliffs
- the Sapey mountain, a biodiverse site at the confluence of different climatic influences
- the Bouligons marsh, a mountain marsh created from a geological incident
- Parc de Lorient, a park for everyone
- the Serre de l’Âne cliff, a major testimony to the geological history of the Drome region
